Dear Hanwellians,

First of all, many apologies for the intrusion and for the cheeky question I'm about to ask...

I live in Hanwell Fields and often walk to the Moon and Sixpence on a fine evening. In the fields just before the church yard, there are a number of fab. cherry trees in the grounds of the castle (I'm sure this building must have a proper name, but in our household, it's called "The Castle" - you know the one I mean). I have a small business making and selling jam and I wondered whether there is a chance to come and pick the cherries in 2009. I probably can't afford to pay very much for them, but a couple of jars of cherry jam would certainly be on offer. Is there a groundsman or an owner/manager that I could contact to ask permission? Please help.

For the full story, please take a look at our Web site (it's a little basic, but...).

Thanks and best regards,

Hello Jo,

My grandmother always used to say 'if you don't ask, you don't get' so I admire your approach! I live next to the castle and I do know that the groundsman there is called Charlie. If you email me seperately I will give you his mobile number (I will get his permission first) and I am sure he will help you.

How does that sound?
