WHERE ARE THE TOPICS?
« on: July 17, 2007, 08:44:46 PM »
Nothing to say? I don't believe it. Unless no-one actually lives in the village I would have to assume that there are issues and topics to discuss...
May I ask, is there a village newsletter? Is there an annual fete? What events go on at the village hall?

:) There are quite a few events throughout the year in Hanwell. The next big event will be the Barn Dance in October, the probably a quiz, chistmas party for the children, possibly a carol concert. We try to put something on every couple of months in the village hall but it is being refurbished at the moment so not a lot over the summer but we did have the annual village lunch there - it was raining  :'(, usually its outside - last month. It's not a very big village but if you do come to live here if you come along to some of the events you will certainly get to know people. We are nice!! This is a new forum as our last one was hi-jacked by Russians posting porn! Not sure if many people in Hanwell know how to use a forum.

We are hoping very much that we do get to live there...we will keep you posted. Blasted porn just ruins things for people. Maybe we should turn the tables by hacking into Russian Porn sites and uploading pictures of Hanwell...then again, maybe not!

Perhaps in time some of the villagers might learn how to use the Forum as it is a very useful media tool to keep a community together.

Hope Hanwell doesn't get flooded - my partner is currently stranded in a pub in Gloucester unable to get home. Does water collect at the bottom of the hill by the castle?

regarding the "flood" if you were there at 10am you would have a different opinion.
2 people who live adjacent to the pub were nearly engulfed, at least village spirit is alive and well,

the opinion stated above was due to comments posted below the photographs, which infered that there was no issue with the "floodlike" conditions, this has offended several people, who alerted me to this today having visited the website, vilagers who really care, this a great shame, this website is a great facility and brilliantly done,
perhaps negative comments will now be a thing of the past
lets hope so! :)

I don't think we should be criticising people for their grammar, as it will put people off posting and isn't appropriate in a forum. All should be free to post regardless of their grammatical ability!

Thank you for the information - very interesting. Yes, let's not worry about grammar etc - the main thing is involvement for the greater good. Too many forums have collapsed due to poeple working against each other...don't let this happen here.
I guess those drains just cannot cope with the amount of water.
Thanks again folks.
